We have a limited number of loaner music stands available, but they’re a pain to move around the building. You should buy one of the GOOD foldable ones we sell for $45 (pictured above). It comes with a carrying bag. It will make your life — and our lives — easier.

Guitar Level 3: On hiatus for now.

It might be a great idea to come check out Level 3 before tackling the orchestra. Level 3 will help define you as a musician with more advanced chording, preparation for orchestral work, music theory, and further development of right-hand techniques.

Lakewood Cultural Center Classes

BEGINNING GUITAR LEVEL 1

No previous guitar or music experience required. In four weeks, you’ll learn to read sheet music and tablature, know the important chords, learn how to finger-pick melodies, and play solo and ensemble pieces. You will need a playable acoustic guitar. All students must start at Level 1 and pay a fee of $10 to the instructor for the textbook at each level. Children under 13 should be accompanied by an adult.

Historic Grant Avenue Classes

Guitar Level 1 & 2 Study Sessions: By appointment. Four week class is $40 plus $10 for the text book. No previous guitar or music experience required. In four weeks, you’ll learn to read sheet music and tablature, know the important chords, learn how to finger-pick melodies, and play solo and ensemble pieces. You will need a playable acoustic guitar. All students must start at Level 1. After certifying at Level 1, you’ll continue to add to your musical toolbox with chord-changing skills, arpeggio playing, chord-melody work, and continuing to refine your melody and ensemble playing skills.
